StrengthsFinder Assessment – One of the best tools for developing strengths of a team.

March 5th, 2014

I just recently returned from a leadership retreat that used a powerful tool for developing anding the strengths of a team. It is called the SrengthsFinder assessment, which correlates with StrengthsFinder 2.0, a book written by Tom Rath.

StrengthsQuest was developed by the Gallup Organization as student development and is based on the belief that people are more successful when they focus on improving their strengths as opposed to trying to “fix” their weaknesses! It is a powerful tool for anyone looking to determine the strengths of team members, coworkers, etc.
The assessment takes about 30 minutes and after it is completed you will be given your top five strengths. My top 5 strengths with their description:
1. Woo – Winning Other Over – People strong in the Woo theme have never met a stranger, and build rapport. (Dead on description of me, FYI)
2. Communication – People strong in the Communication theme generally find it easy to put their thoughts into words. They are good conversationalists and presenters..
3. Positivity – People strong in the Positivity theme have an enthusiasm that is contagious. They are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do.
4. Maximizer – People strong in the Maximizer theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.
5. Strategic – People strong in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.
Check it all out at! This can be an amazing tool in analyzing your strengths, and the strengths of your team.

Question: What are your top five strengths and how do you use this assessment with your team?
